With fall only a few weeks away, anticipation is in high gear. To get ahead of the season, Pinterest just released its Fall 2024 Trend Report to give us the best trend predictions in fashion, beauty, cooking, and design. Overall, the desire to be cozy reigns supreme—with patterned fabrics, DIY projects, sage green homes, and an appetite for tranquil retreats, Pinterest predicts that fall will be the season of comfort and creativity.
Furthermore, at-home projects will be all the rage. ‘Small bead bracelet ideas’ and ‘Japanese crochet bags’ have had an influx of searches, hinting that our creative juices need more room to flow (along with our desire to consume less). The report dives deeper into what we can anticipate this fall, and as the team at Pinterest puts it, “it’s shaping up to be a dynamic and vibrant season.”

Green Home Decor
We’ve been calling it for a while, but green home decor will be in the spotlight this fall. That includes everything from dark green bathrooms (+350%) to forest green homes (+220%). Green home decor searches increased by a whopping 2,670% since last year, meaning the desire to create a calming space—which is typically represented by the color green—is high. That’s right: It’ll be a cozy girl fall.
If you’re a fan of mixing and matching, “sage and blue color palette” searches increased by 570%. People are inclined to mix their greens with neutrals and dark blues, creating an earth-toned oasis you can’t wait to come home to.

Cool-Toned Makeup
Get out your pinks, blues, and reds, because cool-toned makeup trends will be back this fall. Cool tone makeup looks had a search increase of 360%, with other dewy makeup looks following suit—”soft cat eye makeup” (+105%), “flushed makeup looks” (+460%), and “concealer lips” (+92%) all saw an increase in searches.
The best part about cool-toned makeup looks making a comeback? They match virtually every skin tone and color palette.

Patterned Prints and Layering
There’s been an increase in pattern-centric searches like “camouflage” (+2,990%), “leopard print” (+2,295%), and even “lobster sweaters” (+55%). Gone are the days of plain old sweaters—instead, we’re pulling out our graphic knits and eschewing anything that isn’t patterned enough.
In addition to patterned prints, layering will have its moment in fall 2024. “People are making bold statements with leopard print denim and camouflage, and adding volume with puffer skirts and oversized coats,” the report notes. “It’s all about showcasing your creativity and individuality in this season of main character energy.” Get ready to pair your camouflage tees with your warm puffer jackets, because the season of layering will soon be upon us.
